Yael Allweil

Architect

Yael Allweil is an architect and Assistant Professor, Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning, Technion

Israel Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) and Associated Fellow at the Truman Institute, Hebrew University. She completed her PhD in architecture history at UC Berkeley exploring nationalism in Israel-Palestine as a regime of housing. Her research agenda explores the history of housing in Israel and Palestine and the history of struggles over urban public spaces, emphasizing the spatialities of political struggles. Her research was published in the monograph Home-Land: Zionism as Housing Regime 1860-2011 (Routledge, 2016) and a number of journal articles in Urban Studies, Footprint, Architecture Beyond Europe, City, TDSR and IJIA. Yael’s work involves academic research and activism in the context of the Israeli housing social movement.
