In societies that believe in the existence of demons the question arises: Why are there demons in the world? In ancient Judaism two main answers were given to this question: (a) By God's will; and (b) in spite of His primordial plan. This session will focus the significance of demons in ancient Jewish cosmology and on the view concerning their coming into being.
